Youtube influencer Cory Williams, also known as “Mr. Safety,” pulled a mean prank on his kitty recently. Williams’ cat Sparta is an animal influencer himself who goes by the moniker “The Mean Kitty,” on Youtube.  The Internet famous feline’s adventures alongside his human and animal family members are regularly documented by his exhibitionist dad, but this time, Sparta got the last laugh. For some people, it’s not unusual to fantasize about whether a loved one would care if you died. Morbid, sure. But the question is not unheard of. 3 Storeys Director: Arjun Mukherjee Cast: Richa Chadha, Renuka Shahane, Sherman Joshi, Pulkit Samrat, Sunny Singh, Masumeh Rating: 2.5 An elderly neighbourhood aunt living all by herself; an intelligent and smart woman bearing the brunt of an abusive husband; a young inter-faith couple, who love each other but their parents are against the match, the 3 Storeys picks characters from our everyday lives and gives them interesting twists. The film is set in a Mumbai chawl and the three main characters live on different floors of the chawl - three stories on three storeys. If you find that boring or cheesy, you are likely to be disappointed by the stories as well. None of the stories is unpredictable or too novel, except, maybe for one. Cast: Tapsee Pannu, Saqib Saleem, Nidhi Singh Director: Aleya Sen Rating: 1.5 Stars (Out of 5) It all begins with a girl in a tearing rush. She is about to elope with her lover. Bites of brinjal sandwiches, loads of airy-fairy talk and a diamond ring later, the flaming red car carrying the twosome veers off a highway and plunges into a river. The duo survives the mishap and ends up in a jungle. The trek through the forest does them no good at all. They disappear ever deeper into the woods as they seek to shrug off the repercussions of the accident. Their fate mirrors that of Dil Juunglee, written and directed by debutante Aleya Sen. The shallow, soulless rom-com never finds a clearing large enough for sunlight to filter in and illuminate the goings-on. Neither the heroine, a

Jimmy Kimmel hosted the Academy Awards for the second year running and kicked off the presentation ceremony with a monologue poked fun at Harvey Weinstein and Mike Pence while paying homage to #MeToo and Time's Up. He started off by saying that the Oscar trophy was Hollywood’s ‘most beloved and respected man’ because ‘he keeps his hands where you can see them, never says a rude word and, most importantly, he has no penis.’ Below are some of the most memorable lines from Kimmel's monologue and other quotes from Oscar 2018. Two years in a row have brought unexpected gifts from Indian cinema for the national masochists club. Last year we heard of dybbuk and ruchim from Jewish folklore via the Mollywood production Ezra. 2017 also gave us the Tamil venture Aval (simultaneously made by the same director in Hindi as The House Next Door), which tapped into our anxieties about what lies outside our windows in the still of the night. Now, in the first quarter of 2018, has come the discovery of ifrit and peri from Middle Eastern mythology courtesy Bollywood. I learnt about these beings – the former demonic, the latter more ambiguous, says the Goddess Google – as I sat cowering in my seat with my scarf covering my mouth and nose and inching towards my eyes throughout the press preview of the film Pari: Not A Fairyta

Aside from the posthumous Oscar for Heath Ledger ("The Dark Knight") and best animated film for "The Incredibles," no superhero film has ever penetrated the top categories of the Academy Awards. Though regular honorees for their bombastic visual effects or thunderous, wall-to-wall sound, comic-book movies have been denied the upper reaches of achievement. Marvel Studios — one of the most dominant pop-culture juggernauts the movies have ever seen — hasn't won a single Academy Award. But there are signs that the deep freeze for superheroes is thawing. "Logan," James Mangold's acclaimed final chapter of Wolverine, the long-clawed "X-Men" character played by Hugh Jackman, is nominated for best adapted screenplay at Sunday's awards. The nod, which Mangold shares with co-writers Michael Gree
